Online Service-Learning Training - Faculty Development Opportunity for Fall 2017

Have you been thinking about offering service-learning in your course but haven’t had the time to sit down and plan it out? Or are you currently offering service-learning but want to implement it in a new course? If so, this could be a great faculty development opportunity for you.

Starting in August of 2017, Engaged Learning will offer a fully online Service-Learning Certificate that will function as a substantial piece of faculty development for those enrolled. This program is self-paced but will need to be completed in one semester. We estimate that this training will take between 15-20 hours to complete.

The training will include

  • An overview of service-learning definitions and best practices
  • Access to resources like reflection prompts, activities, and rubrics
  • Activities that will help you align your course outcomes with your service project
  • 2 hours of service alongside a community partner of your choosing
  • Opportunities to reflect on your service-experience
  • Activities that will help you integrate the service-learning project into your course

Enrollment is limited, so if you would like to include this in your faculty development planning for next year, we suggest signing up early!
